Christian Velten, MSc, DABR
Christian is a practicing medical physicist at Montefiore Medical Center with an appointment at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, both in New York, NY. He studied physics at the RWTH Aachen University and Technical University of Munich with a focus on experimental nuclear and particle physics. After graduating he worked at the research reactor FRM-II in Garching near Munich on Monte Carlo simulations for fast neutron radiography.
After studying Medical Physics at Columbia University, he became a resident physicist at Montefiore Medical Center, where he is now serving as site-lead brachytherapy physicist and radiosurgery physicist. In addition to his clinical duties, he focuses on computational physics for data analysis, radiation interaction simulations and modeling. He is pursuing a part-time PhD in medical physics with the Technical University of Dresden on the simulation of radiation interactions with nanoparticles, focusing on developing new methods to characterize the chemical stage after water radiolysis.
